Scientist I, Discovery (Neuroscience)

THE ROLE:
AviadoBio are looking for a talented Scientist I-II (Discovery) to innovate and develop new gene therapy strategies. The role will include:
- Develop new protocols, assays, and innovative strategies. Keep up to date with scientific literature in the field and identify new technologies to advance internal projects.
- Deliver high-value data and support all aspects of therapeutical product development.
- Collaborate closely with other functions to enable effective and successful project development
- Actively engage in cross-functional collaboration with peers to overcome challenges
- Function representative for many projects which entails designing studies, relaying project decisions to the team and working cross functionally to meet project/program goals

Responsibilities:
- Design and perform molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry assays, and cloning.
- Plan, conduct, and analyse experiments and interpret results individually and as part of a team.
- Resolve complex problems using established methods and protocols, and develop new assays, technology and protocols together with more senior staff.
- Actively engage in research and provide scientific and technical expertise.
- Promptly and clearly identify and communicate problems, risks and potential impact on timelines.
- Train, guide junior staff, and closely interact with all lab members and be involved in research projects and collaborations.
- Write protocols, report experiments accurately and timely in lab book, and organize data in files and graphs using statistical analyses.
- Present results to senior/other research staff.
- Contribute to the maintenance of an efficient laboratory, check equipment and reagents, and manage samples.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or MSc in biochemistry, molecular biology, virology or related field as a minimum, or extended experience gained either in biotech or an academic institute.
- Broad expertise and knowledge in vector design, molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, or cell-based methods (nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, digital PCR, ELISA, Western blot, cell culture, transfection, transduction).
- Be able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Interest and motivation in developing new experimental and scientific skills.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbally, with strong attention to details.
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to monitor and track critical activity.
