Director/Sr. Director, Strategic Analytics and Insights

Location: Lexington or Remote

The Role: The Director/Sr. Director of Strategic Analytics and Insights (SA&I) will play a crucial role in providing market insights, analytics, and strategic support to the Chief Commercial Officer and cross-functional teams at Agenus. This leadership position will be responsible for managing a team that delivers actionable market research, forecast models, competitive intelligence, and sales analysis to drive business growth and maximize value for healthcare providers and patients. Additionally, the incumbent will provide guidance on commercial analysis and evaluation for pipeline assets and contribute to business development efforts within the company.

In the role you will:

The Director/Sr. Director will lead the SA&I Team to excellence in the following areas:

  • Market Research and Analysis
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to support commercial products, business development projects, and pipeline programs.
  • Analyze and report on secondary data, including Rx demand and promotional impact.
  • Execute primary research activities throughout the product lifecycle, including positioning, pricing, campaign development/assessment, and post-launch tracking.
  • Conduct market and competitive assessments for pipeline products, validating forecast assumptions and identifying label claims for clinical trials, physician/patient needs, and requirements.
  • Forecasting and Demand Modeling
  • Develop demand-based models to support product management in forecasting commercial and pipeline products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive input and review for accurate forecasts that address market uncertainties.
  • Interface with manufacturing to translate forecasts into manufacturing forecasts, ensuring adequate product supply.
  • Monitor actual demand versus forecast and identify and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Provide a clear perspective on biases and unknowns in these analyses.
  • Collaboration and Strategic Alignment
  • Partner with commercial leadership to gain input and alignment on recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Project Leadership, D evelopment , Marketing, and Market Access teams to build commercial models for lifecycle planning and decision-making of assets in development.
  • Partner with Corporate Development to provide valuations of internal programs for potential partners, and valuation of potential in-licensing opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively across the Commercial organization.
  • Sales Analysis and Salesforce Optimization
  • Support salesforce sizing project to determine salesforce size and configuration based on market size, customer prescribing data, and territory level geographies.
  • Provide relevant market data and analytics to enable Commercial Team strategic discussion of ongoing sales performance.
  • Provide supporting data to enable design of incentive compensation programs.
  • Team Management and Development

Has responsibility for oversight and effective management of all team members (i.e. direct reports and vendors) to include but not limited to the following:

  • Annual objective setting
  • Mid-year and end of year reviews
  • Ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Employee development
  • Recruitment, selection, and development of talent

Qualifications: About You

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic analytics, market research, business intelligence, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Proven track record in leading and managing teams, including performance management, talent development, and recruitment.
  • Strong expertise in market research methodologies, data analysis, and forecasting techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of the commercial aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, including marketing, market access, and sales.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
