The Medical Science Liaison will prioritize contacts with key opinion leaders (KOLs) at medical centers within specific assigned regions of the US bringing insights to Celldex and providing scientific exchange to external stakeholders. By meeting KOLs individually or in small groups, the MSL provides a level of service that shows Celldex cares about science and advancing education by supporting data dissemination, congress attendance and keeping track of competitive landscape.

Responsibilities

Enhancing knowledge: Engages in Medical-to-Medical scientific discussions including disease awareness and education. Supports medical training for commercial team, employs scientific and clinical expertise while maintaining a high competency in the responsible therapeutic areas through appropriate training. Demonstrates competency in these areas through written and verbal communications and assessments and conveys scientific information clearly and effectively. The MSL facilitates unsolicited medical inquiries and may support the generation of educational materials.

Insight gathering: Responsible for initiating, building and fostering internal/external/ relationships with recognized clinician and research experts in therapeutic and managed markets/health care systems. While at outside conferences or engaging in scientific exchange, The MSL stays abreast of current scientific trends, opinions of company data, and that of competitor medicines while engaging in scientific exchange either personally or at conferences, advisory boards, or investigator meetings.

Data generation: Supports sponsored and IIR research; facilitates research site selection and study placement. The MSL must be adept at interpreting data and new information in order to better understand situations and draw appropriate conclusions. This includes prioritizing issues and opportunities based on customer needs, taking ownership and demonstrating accountability.

Qualifications

  • MD., Pharm D, or PhD in a life science, specialization in Dermatology, Immunology and Allergy preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated success and accomplishment in the pharmaceutical industry, managed care organization or related experience.
  • Requires outstanding communication skills and the ability to function within a team environment.
  • Requires customer facing skills, listening skills probing skills, and flexibility.
  • Requires strong cross functional attitude to work collaboratively with colleagues across key disciplines.
  • Must live within region and within proximity of a major airport.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 60% including some weekends.
  • Requires scientific baseline knowledge in clinical trials methods, implementation and interpretation, sound scientific and clinical judgment, and ability to work with new mechanisms of action and multiple therapeutic areas in various indications.
