ROLE: Medical Science Liaison (MSL)
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key position within Global Medical Affairs and works closely with cross-functional partners including Clinical Research and Development, Clinical Operations, and Commercial. The primary role of the MSL is to serve as the scientific interface between iTeos and the healthcare professional communities with respect to communicating scientific information about iTeos pipeline, scientific data and clinical development plans. The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships within the medical/scientific community and providing medical and scientific data about iTeos products and research to healthcare professionals.
This is a full-time, exempt, field-based position reporting to the VP, Medical Affairs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Focus on engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Clinical Investigators, Cooperative Groups, Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGS), and other regional influencers.
- Build and foster strong relationships with key external stakeholders.
- Support trial specific site feasibility/ selection strategy and collaborate with the Clinical Operations team and the CRO to identify ‘workhorse’ clinical trial sites that have robust recruitment and consistently deliver quality clinical trials.
- Support the site start-up process as needed.
- Engage early with the leading Clinical Investigators to develop an honest and transparent relationship that translates into physician’s interest in future collaboration.
- Identify protocol or operational challenges communicated by KOLs and PIs and deliver real-time insights to the Clinical Operations team.
- Support investigators and acts as a scientific resource to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide insights regarding current treatment practice, physician needs and preferences.
- Engage with external experts on the generation of scientific data through Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR) or investigator-sponsored trials (IST).
- Communicate complex scientific and medical data to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver scientific presentations and education relating to the relevant therapeutic areas, the mode of action of pipeline assets, and related clinical evidence.
- Support clinical trial development including draft and review of clinical trial protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study plans, etc., and facilitate protocol and investigational product education to optimize appropriate recruitment on clinical trials.
- Contribute meaningful insights to medical strategies and tactics, including the design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of scientific content and clinical data.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of ICH-GCP and other applicable legislation.
- Ability to quickly understand complex disease areas, treatments and clinical development plans.
- Understand the healthcare therapeutic landscape, patient pathways and investigative sites.
- Communicates effectively with the ability to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
- Builds Networks and effectively build formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization including sites, KOLs, networks, PAGs, CROs and others.
- Ability to persuade by using compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others, overcome challenges, seek opportunities to remove barriers and influence without authority.
- Organizational Savvy - Ability to maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics.
- Problem solving, analytic and able to prioritize.
- Ability to take the initiative on projects, identify what is necessary to complete tasks, and execute independently.
- Ability to approach challenges with creativity and pragmatism.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving and challenging biotech environment and move R&D programs forward at full speed while maintaining quality.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS
- PharmD, MD, or Ph.D. degree.
- Strong experience working in Clinical Operations, Clinical Development or Medical Affairs.
- Ability for 60-80% travel regionally, and occasional international travel.
